Re-elect George Griffin to the CHCCS Board of Education!
Leadership...Trust... Experience...
My educational career began in 1973 when I got a job as a teacher assistant in a special school (Wright School, Durham, NC) for children (ages 5-13) who were experiencing severe emotional and behavioral difficulties. I loved that job so much that I obtained a master’s degree in special education (Duke) and a teaching license in 1975 and quickly became a full-time teacher. I received my PhD in Special Education (UNC-CH) in 1984. In addition to my Wright School experience, I taught at Phillips MS in the early 90’s.
My administrative experience includes roles as an assistant principal, principal, central office administrator (Wake, Durham, Alamance-Burlington), and with the NC Department of Public Instruction. I taught at both Greensboro College (1984-86) and NCCU (2001-2006). I finished career as a Lead Evaluator with Cognia (aka AdvancED, aka Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; K-12 Division). My biggest honor was getting elected to the CHCCS Board of Education in 2021.
There is so much unfinished business. Yes, I realize that will always be the case. These are troubled times for so many. I’m the beneficiary of much that life has to offer, and I want the same opportunity for everyone else. I’m a fervent believer that public education is the cornerstone of democracy and it is under constant assault from those dedicated to serving special interests.
I totally appreciate and enjoy my retired life, and at the same time desire to actively make a positive difference for those whose voices are too often ignored. I’ve enjoyed my first term on the board, more than I imagined. I’m respectfully asking you to use one of your votes to re-elect me to the board. Thank you.
